About LSMS
LUMS Students Mathematics Society (LSMS) is a student-run society at LUMS. The society is run on the values of Imagination, Curiosity and Integrity.The society consists of highly motivated students who work to make Math and Science a part of the daily conversations again. The aim of the Society is not only to help make the subject of Math and Science important again, it is to give these budding scientists and mathematicians the platform to explore and grow as individuals.

Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) is a leading higher educational institute in Pakistan. The university provides training to its students in various fields including, but not limited to economics, social sciences, humanities, sciences, engineering, management sciences, accounting, finance and law. The student body compromises of people from diverse backgrounds introducing students to a variety of cultures and is truly a microcosm of Pakistan.
Events
Sigma
Sigma is the flagship event of the LUMS Students’ Mathematics Society. With its participants coming in from over 25 institutions across Pakistan, SIGMA is one of the biggest events of its kind and takes place over the course of three days.
Integration Bee
The LUMS Integration Bee, modeled after the popular 'MIT Integration Bee', is a tournament hosted by LSMS which involves individual players competing against one another by solving increasingly challenging Integrals. Contestants compete to prove their mettle and bear the title of the "Grand Integrator"!
International Day of Mathematics
The International Day of Mathematics, known as the 'Pi Day', is celebrated worldwide on March 14th, to commemorate the spirit of mathematics. LSMS holds diverse activities ranging from mathematical cosplays and strategy games to pi recitals and a movie night, ensuring a mathemagical experience!
Salam Sessions
The Salaam Sessions is a platform for interactive discussions on mathematics and mathematical physics. The aim is to keep a discussion on a qualitative level so that it is accessible to everyone with an interest but also have it be rigorous enough to appeal to those who have significant experience in the field.
Fermat's Enigma
In these student-led sessions, participants learn to solve simply-stated yet deceptively deep, age-old puzzles. These interactive sessions foster intuition, gradually dissecting problems to find solutions. Participants discover the power of instinct in tackling complex math puzzles and explore intriguing mathematical concepts.
Math Clinics
Math Clinics are conducted by LSMS members to cure students’ mathematical difficulties. These cover academic queries from courses such as Pre-Calculus, Calculus etc. or interesting problems like the Monty Hall Problem. These informal sessions are held at campus spots such as PDC & Khoka Benches.
Intra-LUMS
This event is exclusively for the LUMS student body. Intra-LUMS looks to give students currently enrolled in any major at LUMS the chance to showcase their mathematical skills and logical reasoning by taking part in this mathematics-oriented puzzle.
